Earlier today, the OHL announced that Kingston Frontenacs GM Kory Cooper is the 2024-25 winner of the Jim Gregory OHL General Manager of the Year Award.

"I am honoured to be selected as the recipient of the Jim Montgomery Award," said Cooper.

Cooper's Frontenacs, led by Head Coach Troy Mann, finished third in the Eastern Conference in no small part due to the moves made by Cooper throughout the season. It was the fifth 40-win season in Kingston's storied history.

Before the season started, Cooper made a pair of aggressive moves, acquiring Vegas Golden Knights' prospect Tuomas Uronen from the Ottawa 67's as well as Cedrick Guindon from the Owen Sound Attack.

The Uronen trade was especially impressive considering the Finnish forward played only 11 games last season. Guindon and Uronen were two of the top-three scorers on the team by the end of the year.

Cooper also got aggressive at the trade deadline, acquiring Will Bishop, Ethan Hay and Joey Willis from Saginaw in exchange for a bevy of picks. The last of his trade deadline moves was acquiring overage goaltender Charlie Schenkel from Sault Ste. Marie.

Cooper and the Frontenac went all out this season, hoping to capitalize on a very strong lineup. The GM played a huge role in creating the roster that was a win away from the Eastern Conference Finals.

"I could not be happier for a more deserving individual," said Frontenacs President and Governor Doug Springer. " Kory works tirelessly to make our organization better on and off the ice."

As Springer suggested, Cooper is unlikely to rest in the near future. With this year's team eliminated from the playoffs, he will turn to building next year's roster.
