The trade market was very busy on Tuesday afternoon after the Overage Trade Deadline passed. Not as many huge deals as in the past couple of days, but still some moves that will greatly impact team's playoff performances.
Here is a full round up of all of those moves:
Likely the biggest move of the day — Kitchener has acquired Seattle Kraken prospect Eduard Sale and defender Olivier Savard. Both are eighteen-year-olds, and have a maximum of two years left of eligibility in the OHL — meaning more long term value. Sale will be a huge addition to this offensive core, which is already dominant.
A full breakdown:
The Niagara IceDogs have acquired the highly-sought after Arizona Coyotes prospect — Anson Thornton. Thornton played two seasons in the OHL — one with Sarnia and one with Barrie — and now he is on his way back after beginning his season in the AHL.
Niagara will still need to sign him, as they just have his rights currently. The Colts get a conditional 15th rounder in return for this deal.
Defensive defenceman Noah Van Vliet is heading up north to Sudbury from the Brantford Bulldogs. In return, the Bulldogs are getting Owen Protz, two second round picks (2026 & 2027), and a 3rd in 2027.
Van Vliet helps replace the hole that Djibril Toure left in the Wolves' defence, as he will be able to come in and play tough and heavy minutes. The 2005-born defender is undrafted, and he will be able to come in and be a reliable defensive zone presence come playoffs.
Speedy, high-energy winger Justin DeZoete will pack his bag and head way up north to the Soo to join the Greyhounds. DeZoete has had a tough time fitting into team's systems, as he was already traded from Mississauga to Guelph this season. He hasn't been able to find his groove in a lineup.
With the Soo, DeZoete will have a carved-out spot in the bottom-six where he will just be relied upon to bring speed and provide some secondary scoring when possible. Guelph receives a 10th round pick in 2025 in return.
The IceDogs have made room — likely — for their newly acquired goaltender Anson Thornton with this trade. Burns hasn't been able to earn starts for the IceDogs, playing the majority of this season in Junior B.
Erie is another team short on goalies, and bringing in Burns will give them some options in the crease.
The Petes have acquired 2006-born defenceman Grayden Strohack in exchange for three draft picks — including a 3rd, a 4th, and a 5th. Strohack was a 3rd round pick in 2022 by the Firebirds, and has played a majority of their games for them this year.
The Petes are weak in depth in just about every department, and Strohack will be a welcomed addition to their defensive depth chart.
