The Kingston Frontenacs have acquired Slovak defenceman Jakub Chromiak from the Sudbury Wolves in exchange for 2nd, 4th & 6th round picks.

Draft eligible defender Jakub Chromiak joins the Kingston Frontenacs from the Sudbury Wolves, where he will fill their second import roster spot. Kingston sent a 2nd round pick (2027), a 4th round pick (2025), and a 6th round pick (2027) back to Sudbury.
When the Wolves acquired Slovak centreman Dalibor Dvorsky from the SHL, they already had two import players on their roster. The OHL allows a maximum of two import players per team, and Dvorsky gave the Wolves three. One of Jakub Chromiak and goaltender Jakub Vondras needed to be moved, and now the answer has been revealed.
Chromiak played a full season with the Wolves last year, accumulating 19 points from the blue line. He is a mature defender for his age, and plays a responsible and reliable game. Chromiak will add some much needed assistance in the Frontenacs' defensive zone, and keeping the puck out of the net.
The Frontenacs currently have a 5-8 record in a weak East Division, in which they sit 3rd. The hope is that Kingston is able to improve from a very disappointing performance last season, and Chromiak should certainly help the amount of goals against.
Brother of Slovak defender Jakub Chromiak, is former Kingston Frontenac, Martin Chromiak. Martin had a very successful couple of seasons in the OHL, which earned himself a contract from the LA Kings. He currently plays for LA's AHL affiliate Ontario Reign, and has been one of Kingston's most recent success stories. Jakub follows in the footsteps of his brother to Kingston, where he looks to prove himself worthy of an NHL Draft pick next June.
Jakub Chromiak is one of the more projectable players in this draft class from the OHL. He's reliable in his own zone, he makes the right plays on a consistent basis and he is mobile. Coaches know what they are going to get out of him on a nightly basis, and there is a lot to be said for that. At this point, he is projected as a mid-late round pick, but with an increased role in Kingston, his draft stock could definitely rise.
