Saginaw has traded forward Luke McNamara to the Kingston Frontenacs in-exchange for two third round picks and a fourth round pick.
The Saginaw Spirit have made another trade, sending forward Luke McNamara to Kingston in exchange for three draft selections.
The Mississauga, Ontario native joins the Kingston Frontenacs, a rebuilding team in need of some offensive depth. Kingston's star forwards include Paul Ludwinski, Matthew Soto, Ethan Miedema, Tyler Hopkins, and Cristopher Thibodeau. Outside of them, Kingston is relatively weak up-front.
Luke McNamara — the 2005-born forward — will add a playmaking element to this Frontenacs lineup. McNamara needs a fresh start, he has been stuck inside Saginaw's bottom-six and hasn't had a chance to thrive as a player. In Kingston, he should get this opportunity.
The Memorial Cup hosts had a slow start to the season, but they are rolling now. They have five straight wins in November, and they have been firing on all-cylinders offensively. 2024 Draft Eligible defender Zayne Parekh has been a consistent force from the backend with his hockey sense and creative ability.
They recieve a 3rd in 2025 (BAR), 3rd in 2026 (MIS), and a 4th in 2024 (KGN) in exchange for McNamara. This is a sizeable return for the Spirit, and potentially ammo for a future trade before the deadline.
Now that the Spirit are gaining momentum in the standings, they can begin to fine-tune their roster in preparation for the post-season and the Memorial Cup. They also acquired goaltender Nolan LaLonde, and Lightning prospect Ethan Hay earlier this season.
