The power forward will provide a boost for a Frontenacs team looking to make some noise.
The Kingston Frontenacs have made a big addition, acquiring Florida Panthers draft pick Cole Zurawski from the Owen Sound Attack on Thursday.
In return, the Attack will receive a 2029 second-round pick (BFD), 2030 second (KGN), 2027 third (SAR) and 2030 third (KGN).
Zurawski, 18, was a sixth-round pick by the Panthers in this year's NHL draft. A north-south, hard-skating power forward, he has a goal and three assists in eight games this season, after scoring 24 goals and 46 points last year for the Attack.
Originally the sixth overall pick in the 2024 OHL draft by Flint, the 6-foot-1 forward was initially traded to Owen Sound from the Firebirds during his rookie year. He blossomed into one of the Attack's top scorers, and now hopes to be a big contributor to success in Kingston.
Owen Sound currently sit at the bottom of a competitive Western conference with a 2-6-0 record through eight games. Trading a key player for picks sure seems like a rebuild may be afoot, which would raise questions around a guy like Pierce Mbuyi being a potential big-name trade option over the coming months.
For Kingston, they clearly want to contend this season, and are in the mix out East with a 6-4-0 record. This addition will give them a nice boost to the forward core, but they'll need to focus on keeping the puck out of their own net as well if they want to truly make some noise.
