Logan Hawery signs OHL Scholarship and Development Contract with London

The London Knights announced yesterday, that they signed Logan Hawery to an OHL Scholarship and Development Contract. London selected Hawery with the 20th overall pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.

"The Knights are one of the best organizations in all of junior hockey," said Hawery. "I can't wait to be a part of it."

Born in Barrie, the 2008-born forward spent the last two seasons playing for the U-16 AAA Barrie Colts. During his first season with the team, Hawery was playing with and against players a year older than him. Despite the age difference, Hawery was third in scoring on the team with 40 points in 22 games.

This past season, he captained the Colts while scoring 27 goals and adding 28 assists for a total of 55 points in 31 games. In a mere 10 playoff games, the young forward scored 29 points.

Having already played up a year, Hawery will have an advantage that many other rookies do not have as they enter the OHL. He has already experienced playing against older and larger players.

This will be all the more important considering that at 5-foot-9 Hawery is undersized. He makes up for his lack of size with strong skills and hockey knowledge.

He is an excellent skater who thrives with the puck on his stick. Hawery seems to find an extra gear when he gets the puck in space and starts driving the puck into the offensive zone. His hands complement his edges nicely, allowing him to protect the puck and make moves around defenders.

He is also a smart player who reads the play well and uses his teammates to create dangerous offensive chances.

Next season, London's forward group is likely to be one of the strongest in the league. With players like Easton Cowan, Denver Barkey and Kasper Halttunen eligible to return Hawery will have plenty of teammates who can show him what it takes to thrive at the OHL level.

London fans should be thrilled with this signing. London may just have added another elite weapon to a roster that certainly wasn't lacking in that department.
