6-foot-7 forward Kaleb Lawrence has had an exciting past ten days. Just last week, he lifted the J. Ross Robertson Cup over his head, as the London Knights swept the Oshawa Generals in the OHL Finals. Now, he has officially signed his professional entry-level contract with the LA Kings.
This signing should give Lawrence a momentum boost heading into the Memorial Cup this weekend, as the London Knights get started on Saturday as they play Drummondville.
Lawrence is having a productive postseason performance — considering all of the suspensions that he has been handed. He has only played eight out of eighteen playoff matches due to suspension, as he was awarded back-to-back five game suspensions.
Unfortunately for Lawrence, he was not able to see any ice time in the OHL Finals against Oshawa due to his suspensions.
Lawrence is a big, strong centre who has really developed in a lot of areas throughout the course of this season. His skating continues to improve, and he has proven to be a reliable contributor for the Knights. He had 9 points in the 8 playoff games that he did play, and will be looking to build off of that in the Memorial Cup.
The LA Kings have shown how much they like big centres in the past with their draft picks, and Kaleb Lawrence is no different. LA selected Lawrence in the 7th round of the 2022 NHL Draft, and he has officially done enough to earn himself a professional deal.
The LA Kings prospect still has one more year eligible to play in the OHL, but after next season, Lawrence will be joining the Kings organization.
