The Knights have filled the import spot opened yesterday, with a high-skill forward in Nordmark.
The London Knights didn't take long to fill their vacant import spot.
After dealing Colorado Avalanche prospect Linus Funck to the Oshawa Generals yesterday, London has now announced the signing of recent Anaheim Ducks first-round pick Marcus Nordmark.
Nordmark, 18, was the 28th pick in this year's NHL draft, after the confident and skilled Swede put up fantastic numbers with Djurgårdens' under-20s program last season.
In 25 games at the U20 Nationell level, the Stockholm native scored 14 goals and added 24 assists for 38 points. He also scored three goals and an assist in six games in a gold medal-winning showing at this year's U18 Worlds, and appeared in eight SHL games for Djurgårdens, recording one assist.
That pedigree was more than enough for the 6-foot-2 winger to be a first-round pick, and Anaheim was happy when he fell into their laps at 28. The Knights took Nordmark in last year's import draft, and the wait has paid off now with his signature.
This will be another big boost for an overhauled London forward core, highlighted by another import in Luca Santala, as well as other signings in Thomas Zocco, Kane Barch, Geno Carcone and more. There are also some top holdovers in Braidy Wassilyn, Ryan Brown and Jaxon Cover.
Nordmark may just be the crown jewel of that group, though, with elite international experience and draft pedigree. As usual, the Knights now look like one of the teams to beat out West.
