London have added to their blueline, signing American Jackson Marthaler
The London Knights have signed defenseman Jackson Marthaler to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement, the Knights have announced.
Marthaler, 18, spent last season with the United States National Team Development Program (NTDP), appearing in 54 games with the program with four points, having 111 career games split between the U17 and U18 teams with a goal and 15 points.
A left-shot defenseman, Marthaler went undrafted in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. A scouting report from Upside Hockey calls Marthaler a defensive defenseman who has the puck-moving game to become a depth pairing NHLer.
Marthaler shows enough potential in his shutdown game, and his ability to move the puck, that he could potentially make it as a bottom-pairing D in the NHL- but there's plenty to work on. Look for him in the mid-to-late rounds.
Marthaler was selected by London in the fourth round of the 2026 OHL Priority Selection, 76th overall. Marthaler was also drafted in the USHL Entry Draft by the Waterloo Black Hawks in the eighth round, 120th overall.
Marthaler is committed to play NCAA hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where he is expected to join the team in the 2027-28 season.
On the Knights blueline, Marthaler joins as an option for London's left-hand side next season with Philadelphia Flyers first rounder Maksim Sokolovskii, as well as Bruins fifth rounder Jacob Vandeven.
Also vying are spots are undrafted 2026 eligibles Caleb Mitchell, Jacob Xu, & Cody Wood. London is losing RHD Andoni Fimis to the University of Vermont next season.
