The London Knights announced the signing of 2024 seventh-round pick Eddie Hickson to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

Prior to being drafted by London, Hickson played his minor league hockey for the Sun County Panthers U-16 AAA team. In 30 games, he scored 20 goals and added 28 assists during the 2023-24 season.

He got called up to play seven games for the Windsor Jr. Spitfires U-18 AAA squad as well as four games with the Chatham Maroons in the GOJHL.

This year, he has spent the year playing for the London Nationals in the GOJHL. In 46 games, he has 17 goals and 23 assists for a total of 40 points.

Hickson's performance with the Nationals earned him a spot in the GOJHL Top Prospects game.

At 5-foot-9, the Essex, Ont. native is not a very big player. Unless Hickson grows, the physicality in the OHL could be an issue for the young forward if he joins the Knights next season.

However, it should be noted that London has a history of drafting undersized forwards who find success. Toronto Maple Leafs' forward Mitch Marner and Easton Cowan were both undersized when they joined London and have found large amounts of success.

We will see whether Hickson follows in their footsteps if he joins the Knights in the future. It seems unlikely he will be called for an extended period this season due to the strength of London's roster.
