The Niagara IceDogs have shored up their offense, signing forward Michael Tang from the USHL

The Niagara IceDogs have announced the signing of forward Michael Tang out of the United States Hockey League.

Tang, 17, was selected in the fourth round of the 2025 OHL Priority Selection by Niagara, 78th overall, having signed a tender with the Madison Capitols in the USHL.

The 2027 NHL Draft eligible appeared in 57 games for the Capitols with nine goals, 18 assists, & 27 points in 2025-26. Tang also appeared in five games for the NTDP's U17 team. Tang is committed to Harvard University for the 2027-28 season.

The New-York-born Tang had spent his minor junior career in Ontario, playing in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) system with the Toronto Titans, having scored 52 goals, 76 assists, & 128 points in 74 games on a forward group including the 2025 OHL Draft's fifth overall pick, Owen Sound's Max Delisle.

In a statement, IceDogs general manager Dale DeGray called Tang a "smart, highly-skilled, crafty player that can play all three forward positions. He should fit in very nicely with the young group we will see in September".

With IceDogs top scorer Riley Patterson moving to the pro in the Vancouver Canucks system, and the trading away of forwards Ryan Roobroeck and Ethan Czata, holes exist in Niagara's forward group that Tang helps alleviate the team's scoring losses.

Tang has the potential to be a key offensive contributor for the IceDogs next season in the IceDogs forward group alongside fellow 2027 Draft eligibles Ryerson Edgar and Carter Lewandowski.
