The 2024 U18 OHL Priority Selection is now complete.
The 2024 Under-18 OHL Priority Selection has been completed, and 56 players have recently been drafted into the Ontario Hockey League.
A goaltender was taken off of the board first by the Windsor Spitfires — Michael Newlove. Newlove had a phenomenal season with Halton, and his size and maturity in the net makes him a potential major junior goaltender.
The Sarnia Sting picked defenceman Jonathan Kapageridis at second overall. He has been having a tremendous playoff performance up with the Cobourg Cougars (OJHL), and he played this regular season with Don Mills in the GTHL.
Peterborough selected Dylan Turcotte at third overall, a fantastic story as this was his first season playing AAA. Turcotte put up 49 points in 30 games with the Ottawa Jr. 67's.
Looking further down the line, a pair of Halton Hurricanes sharp-shooters were selected with Trent Gates and Samuel Mudie. Both players have a variety of offensive tools. Gates plays with a little more quickness and playmaking, and Mudie plays a more patient game.
The Under-18 draft provides an opportunity for "late-bloomers" who may not have shined in their sixteen-year-old draft years.
