The Oshawa Generals have named their 2026-27 captaincy group, with Harrison Franssen leading the Gens this season
The Oshawa Generals have announced forward Harrison Franssen as the team's 73rd captain in franchise history.
Franssen, who wore an 'A' last season for Oshawa, takes over the captaincy from Ben Danford as the Toronto Maple Leafs prospect defenseman ages out of the OHL.
Franssen, 20, was a ninth round pick of the Generals in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, 171st overall. Franssen has played in 129 career games with Oshawa, scoring 30 goals, 25 assists, & 55 points.
Having a breakout season in 2025-26 with 24 goals and 42 points in 64 games, Franssen was voted by OHL coaches at the most underrated player in the Eastern Conference.
Franssen begins the season with Oshawa having been at NHL prospect camp with the Ottawa Senators. Franssen is committed to play NCAA hockey next season at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Alongside Franssen sporting a letter, Oshawa named forward Brooks Rogowski and defenseman Brady Murnane as assistants, both entering their D+1 season.
Rogowski, 18, was a second round pick of Oshawa in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection. The 6'7 center was drafted with the first pick of the second round of the NHL Draft, 33rd overall, by the Vancouver Canucks.
Rogowski had 15 goals, 27 assists, & 42 points in 46 games for Generals last season. Internationally, Rogowski had three points in five games for the United States at the 2025 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup, along with three points in four games for team USA at the 2026 IIHF World U18 Championship.
Murnane, a 6'3 defenseman from New York, went undrafted in the OHL Priority Selection, but has been a dependable part of the Generals blueline, having appeared in 55 games last season for Oshawa last season.
The Generals begin their 2026-27 OHL season tonight Friday on the road against the Brampton Steelheads at 7:00p.m., with their first home game Sunday against the North Bay Battalion at 6:05p.m.
