The Oshawa Generals have sent a 3rd round pick (2025) and a 5th round pick (2027) to the Peterborough Petes in return for overage forward Connor Lockhart.

Vancouver Canucks prospect Connor Lockhart has been traded from the 2023 OHL champion Peterborough Petes to the Oshawa Generals for a pair of high draft picks.
The Petes have finalized their maximum of three overage roster spots with the loss of Connor Lockhart, and balancing play-time between the four is no longer an issue. Their three OA's are now Cam Gauvreau, Samuel Mayer, and Jax Dubois.
With 2007-born defender Carson Cameron away from the team at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, the Petes needed to make room for both of their 2003-born defenders. With this trade, both Gauvreau and Mayer are now eligible to play in the lineup, along with forward Jax Dubois.
The Petes do lose some offence in this trade, but their depth up-front should still be able to get the job done.
The Oshawa Generals acquire the overage forward who still has a lot of offensive skill and potential in him. The Generals are in need of offensive talent, and Lockhart will fit that role perfectly.
The Vancouver Canucks 6th round pick currently has 7 points through 7 games, and averaged over a point-per-game last season with the Petes. Lockhart will step into a much bigger role in Oshawa, compared to his middle-six role in Peterborough. He joins the Generals as the go-to player offensively, and he will play loads of minutes.
Lockhart should help insulate the young talents like Beckett Sennecke, Rasmus Kumpulainen, and Calum Ritchie, once he returns from injury. He is a player that the Generals can rely on for offence, and consistent production has been something that they have been lacking.
Oshawa currently has a 5-and-8 record this season, which is good for ninth in the Eastern Conference. They have the fourth worst power play in the entire OHL, and Lockhart should also help improve those numbers. This was a necessary move for the Generals, and one that makes them look much more dangerous up-front.
