Owen Sound has made a surprise move, grabbing physical USHL forward Lucas Prud'homme in an unexpected departure
The Owen Sound Attack have announced the signing of forward Lucas Prud’homme to a Standard Player Scholarship and Development Agreement.
In a statement released by the team on Wednesday, Prud'homme thanked Attack GM Tyler Nother for the deal. Nother released a statement welcoming Prud'homme to the club.
We are thrilled to welcome Lucas Prud’homme and his family to the Owen Sound Attack Organization. Lucas is a player we identified internally as a priority to sign for this upcoming season. Lucas’ size and strength make him a power forward that has the ability to provide timely offence and also has the willingness to do whatever it takes to help his team win. We feel that Attack fans will love the way that Lucas plays and that he will quickly become a fan favourite at the Bayshore.
Prud'homme, 19, spent last season in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Madison Capitols where he had five goals and 10 points in 49 games, but his most impactful statistic being his 184 penalty minutes, fourth among USHLers last season.
A prep hockey alum of St. Andrew's College, Prud'homme was selected by Owen Sound in the fifth round of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection, 91st overall.
The 19-year-old Prud'homme split his youth hockey career between the United States and around his hometown of Ottawa before joining St. Andrew's and later Madison.
Prud'homme is committed to play collegiate hockey at Quinnipiac, expected to join the Bobcats roster as a freshman for the 2027-28 NCAA season.
Owen Sound adds a physically intense forward for the team's bottom-six, bringing in an aggressive power forward in Prud'homme who should be able to succeed in a depth role as an experienced veteran junior player.
