Senators prospect Jorian Donovan will head across the border to join the Saginaw Spirit, who give Brantford eight draft selections for the defenceman.

Saginaw makes another add ahead of the OHL Trade Deadline, in preparation of a hopeful playoff run and Memorial Cup tournament.

If they weren't already the best team in the OHL yesterday, they certainly are after today. Not only did they add Owen Beck earlier today, they have now added Jorian Donovan.

Another player that is hot off of the plane from Sweden, Jorian Donovan will pack his bags and head across the border to Saginaw. Donovan was an injury replacement for Canada at the World Juniors, and came in and played all 5 games for the team.

The Ottawa Senators prospect will have the opportunity to go compete for another OHL Championship and participate in another Memorial Cup, after doing so with the Bulldogs in 2022.

Donovan is a smooth-skating, puck moving defender with high offensive vision and activations. He loves playing with the puck on his stick in the offensive zone. He has the ability to walk the blue line with confidence and create lanes for himself.

Donovan is a threat in transition with his skating ability and puck control, and rushes the puck very often.

Saginaw is adding another offensively-minded defender, joining Zayne Parekh and Rodwin Dionicio. Parekh and Dionicio currently occupy the quarterback positions on both power play units, but Donovan will likely have the opportunity to steal one of them at some point.

Donovan was drafted in the 5th round by the Ottawa Senators in 2022, and will have to say goodbye to his defence partner and fellow Sens prospect Tomas Hamara in Brantford.

The Saginaw Spirit are going big, dealing away eight draft picks in this deal.

For a team that is sitting second in the Eastern Conference, it is surprising that Brantford is selling this season. They do have a young core, and this is definitely a tough return for the Bulldogs to pass up in return for Donovan.
