Defenceman Rodwin Dionicio has officially signed his three year entry-level contract in the NHL with the Anaheim Ducks. Dionicio has had a phenomenal tenure in the OHL, and this signing is well-deserved.

He's spent time with the Niagara IceDogs, Windsor Spitfires, and most recently the Saginaw Spirit. Dionicio has been an offensive force from the blue line on each team he has played on, and this season he finished with 73 points in 60 games with Windsor and Saginaw.

Ahead of the OHL Trade Deadline, the Swiss defender was dealt to the Memorial Cup-hosting Saginaw Spirit, where he immediately made an impact. Dionicio has 17 points in 17 playoff games for the Spirit, as they begin their hunt for the Memorial Cup next week.

Dionicio is shifty at the blue line, he has outstanding deception, and he creates offence in waves. He's able to drive offence for his team, something that not many players can do at the OHL level.

Along with his teammate Zayne Parekh, they both make Saginaw a very dangerous offensive threat from the blue line. Dionicio has actually been shifted to the second power play unit because of Parekh's dominance.

The Spirit have two elite offensive playmakers on their blue line — something not many teams can say.

Dionicio has represented Switzerland internationally in many tournaments, and played in his third consecutive World Junior Championship tournament this past winter. He has been leading the Swiss for those past three tournaments, making them an underdog threat each time.

The Anaheim Ducks continue to bolster their blue line of defensive prospects with this signing, and there aren't many defenders more deserving than Dionicio.
