The Sarnia Sting have traded for Saginaw forward Brody Nejim as depth option
The Sarnia Sting have acquired forward Brody Najim from the Saginaw Spirit in exchange for a conditional 2030 OHL Priority Selection 13th-round pick.
According to the released terms of the deal, the pick would become a ninth-round pick if Najim plays 50 additional games over the course of his OHL career.
Najim, 18, appeared in 20 games last season with Saginaw, having a goal and an assist. Najim fared better offensively in the GOHL with eight goals and 16 points in 17 games split between the Chatham Maroons and the Komoka Kings.
In 68 career OHL games with Saginaw, Najim has four goals, four assists, & eight points. Najim was selected by the Spirit in the fourth round of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection, 110th overall.
According to Sarnia, who acquires Najim, he will not begin the season with the Sting, instead being assigned to an unnamed club. Sarnia called Najim "an additional depth option as the season progresses." It's unclear if Najim will return to the GOHL, or elsewhere.
Sting General Manager Dylan Seca called Najim "a player that we see strong potential in", and that eventually he could become an impactful player in Sarnia's lineup.
We believe that teams that are set up to be strong are going to need a variety of players at all positions throughout the course of the year. And this transaction gives us that added depth. Brody is also a local product, and someone we believe could have some upside in this league.
