Blues prospect defenseman Nick Bogas has been moved from Sarnia to Flint

The Flint Firebirds have acquired defenseman Nick Bogas from the Sarnia Sting in exchange for defenseman Landon Pickersgill and four OHL Priority Selection draft picks.

Along with Pickersgill, Sarnia acquires from Flint a 2027 third round pick, fourth round picks in 2029 and 2030, and a conditional 2030 15th round pick, the condition being that Bogas reports to Flint.

Bogas, 18, spent last season with the United States National Team Development Program, appearing in 37 games with the NTDP, scoring two goals and four points.

Committed to play NCAA hockey at Michigan State University, Bogas is expected to play in the OHL next season, with a move to Flint allowing him to remain close to Michigan, and playing in the state as he did with the NTDP, located in Plymouth.

Bogas was drafted in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues in the fifth round, 139th overall. His father, Chris, was a Toronto Maple Leafs Draft pick who played at Michigan State, ending his pro career in Flint with the UHL Generals.

Flint Head Scout Mike Oliviero in a statement called Bogas a "physical" defenseman who "is rarely outworked in his own end".

Nick adds another element to our d-core. He is physical and is rarely outworked in his own end. He has played major minutes at the international level and was relied heavily on by his coaching staff. His compete and composure will be assets to our back end.

Pickersgill, 17, was drafted by the Firebirds in the seventh round of the 2025 OHL Priority Selection, spending last season in the OJHL with the Leamington Flyers. A 2027 NHL Draft eligible, Pickersgill is committed to play NCAA hockey with Lake Superior State University.

Sarnia Sting General Manager Dylan Seca called Pickersgill a "strong defenseman" in a statement, while indicating that he could be an option for the Sting blueline next season.

Pickersgill is a strong defenceman with very good offensive instincts. He adds depth to our age group and to our defensive position. This is another reliable defender who we think can help support our group overall.
