The second round of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection has come to an end.
In the second round, we saw an influx of defencemen get selected, beginning with Patrick Babin to the Brantford Bulldogs. Babin is a player who will translate seamlessly to the OHL as a top four defenceman. He plays a very mature, thorough game, he's got high-end vision and a great first pass.
Following Babin, Carter Hicks went to Windsor, Lucas Ambrosio went to Erie, Noah Barton went to Oshawa, and Kent Greer went to North Bay. Greer is a player who may have dropped a few spots due to his size, as he measures at 5-foot-8. Nonetheless, Greer is an elite skater with elite edge work and shiftiness. He created a bulk of offence for the Barrie Jr Colts, and is fully capable of quarterbacking a power play at the next level.
Maximus Crete was selected 29th overall by the Niagara IceDogs. Crete is an electric player to watch with a variety of high-end offensive tools. He has the vision, passing abilities, and phenomenal hands in tight.
Kingston took the first goaltender of the draft with Gavin Betts, who played with the Mississauga Rebels. Played a large majority of games for the Rebels, and knows how to step up in big games.
