Sarnia will add the big Czech forward to their roster for the 2026-27 season.
As teams begin to add and figure out their rosters for the 2026-27 campaign, the Sarnia Sting have landed a big fish in the import market.
Simon Katolicky, the team's 11th overall pick in the 2025 import draft, has signed and will be joining the team for next season, Sarnia announced.
The 6-foot-4 winger played his 2025-26 season with Tappara's U20 program in Finland, putting up 17 (6+11) points in 29 regular season games, while adding six (3+3) in 13 playoff contests
Katolicky is a fixture of the Czech youth programs, appearing with his country at the U16 to U18 levels in recent years. Most recently, he was on his country's roster at the U18 worlds, posting one goal in six games.
NHL central scouting has the Havlickub Brod native ranked 21st among all EU skaters, and he should expect to hear his name called somewhere in the middle rounds of this summer's NHL draft.
For next season, though, he'll be a big get to the Sting's forward group that could definitely use a skill boost.
