The Sudbury Wolves have made some moves ahead of today's Overage Trade Deadline this afternoon, trading Djibril Toure to Windsor, and acquiring Zacharie Giroux from Flint.

To begin the day, Sudbury moved overage defenceman Djibril Toure to the Windsor Spitfires in exchange for a 3rd round pick (2027) and an 8th round pick (2025).

Toure is an Ottawa Senators prospect who has had a good season with the Wolves. He's very reliable in the defensive end and a tough customer with his 6-foot-7 frame. With a long reach, Toure is dominant defensively at this level.

He will be a big piece to add to Windsor's blue line, even though they are not in contention for the playoffs currently.

Moving Toure came as a bit of a surprise, given that Sudbury is a contending team. There was an inkling that there was another move coming.

Just shortly after, the Wolves made a trade with the Flint Firebirds by acquiring their captain Zacharie Giroux. In return, Flint gets two 3rd round picks in 2026.

Giroux is a big acquisition for the Wolves, who are already deep down the middle of the ice. He will join a long list of talented centres including David Goyette, Dalibor Dvorsky, Alex Pharand, Landon McCallum, and Nathan Villeneuve.

The former Firebirds captain will take the overage roster spot of Djibril Toure, making three overage players on Flint's roster.

Giroux is a 5-foot-6, undrafted centre who has just over a point-per-game with the Firebirds this season. He has been a part of Flint's dominant top line, alongside Gavin Hayes and Braeden Kressler.

He's a quick skater with high offensive intelligence, and has proven to be an effective support player for high-end players, which Sudbury has many of. Giroux will likely have less ice time in Sudbury, but he will play a vital veteran role in their playoff run.

It is unknown where Giroux will fit into Sudbury's lineup yet, but they definitely have no shortage of options down the middle of the ice.

This is some fine work that the Wolves have done before today's Overage Trade Deadline in the OHL at 12:00pm. They are able to move out an overager in Toure, and bring one in with Giroux.
