Ten players who were formerly selected in the OHL Priority Selection will fight for gold at the World Junior A Challenge, playing for Canada East. All of these players currently play in the OJHL, and four of ten played OHL games with their respective club.
Here are the ten players & their OHL affiliation:
Cameron Eke- Windsor Spitfires (Draft Pick)
Carson Lloyd- Brantford Bulldogs (Played)
Trevor Hoskin- Owen Sound Attack (Draft Pick)
Taeo Artichuk- Erie Otters (Played)
Andy Reist- London Knights (Draft Pick)
Dylan Edwards- Erie Otters (Played)
Marcus Lougheed- Brantford Bulldogs (Draft Pick)
Ben Lalkin- Sarnia Sting (Draft Pick)
Jonathan Morello- Erie Otters (Draft Pick)
Ben Pickell- Barrie Colts (Played)
Taeo Artichuk is the only player from this list that has played major junior games this season — five with the Erie Otters. Pickell, Lloyd, & Edwards all played OHL games last season for their respective clubs.
All ten of these players representing Canada at the WJAC have succeeded tremendously with their Junior A teams. Andy Reist — Canada East's captain — is leading this group in points in the OJHL regular season for Cobourg.
Defender Carson Lloyd recently joined the Georgetown Raiders after beginning the season with the Hamilton Kilty B's (GOJHL). Lloyd was originally drafted by the London Knights, before having his right traded to the Bulldogs. Since joining Georgetown in the OJHL, Lloyd didn't skip a beat totalling 18 points through 16 games. This electric start earned him a spot on this roster.
All ten of these players will be looking to hear their names called at the 2024 NHL Draft in Nashville, and playing at the WJAC has put their faces on the international stage.
