The Oshawa Generals and the Owen Sound Attack have made a mid-postseason trade involving three draft picks.

A 2nd in 2027 & a 4th in 2026 are going to Oshawa in exchange for London's 2nd round pick in 2024 which the Generals currently hold. The Attack are picking up the last pick in the 2nd round in exchange for a future and and a future 4th.

Owen Sound was recently eliminated from the playoffs after being swept in four games by the Saginaw Spirit. This is not the result they were hoping for, and they made some moves at the deadline that confused a lot of people. They made some big pickups — like Konnor Smith — but they also dealt away a few key players.

Picking up a late second round pick in this draft — which originally belonged to London — is not a bad idea for the Attack. It means that they are looking to grab some key roster pieces in this draft.

With the severe lack of defencemen in this draft, a lot of them will likely be taken around this pick. The Attack could potentially be looking to take a blue liner with this selection, as there is likely some motivation behind the acquisition given what they gave up.

The Oshawa Generals already have an abundance of young talent, and they likely aren't too worried about losing this second round pick. They get two higher future draft picks in return, which will likely line up with their trajectory as a team more accurately.
