Thirteen OHL players were named inside NHL Central Scouting's Top 50 North American Skaters, while two goalies were named inside the top 3 among Goaltenders.
NHL Central Scouting released their Mid-Term Rankings today — Friday, January 12th at 11:00am EST.
13 OHL players were named inside the Top 50 among North American Skaters:
7. Sam Dickinson (LDN)
10. Zayne Parekh (SAG)
12. Liam Greentree (WSR)
15. Beckett Sennecke (OSH)
21. Jett Luchanko (GUE)
25. Marek Vanacker (BFD)
27. Henry Mews (OTT)
31. Cole Beaudoin (BAR)
32. Ben Danford (OSH)
35. Luca Marrelli (OSH)
37. Gabriel Frasca (KGN)
40. Sam O'Reilly (LDN)
45. Luke Misa (MIS)
Sam Dickinson is undoubtedly the first OHLer off of the board at #7, while Zayne Parekh is not far behind him at #10. One theme has changed from the beginning of the season — this board is no longer dominated by defenceman.
In the past few months, forwards Jett Luchanko, Marek Vanacker, Gabriel Frasca, & Sam O'Reilly have really improved their draft stocks.
Marek Vanacker has quietly been sneaking up this list among draft-eligible OHL players, as he has been a consistent force on Brantford's first line.
Since returning from injury, Gabriel Frasca has done the same. Frasca is the definition of a "clutch" player, he scores and makes the right plays when it matters the most. If he had not been injured to start the season, he might be a lot higher on this list.
Zayne Parekh & Luke Misa lead this list of players in points, each with 55 on the season thus far.
Two OHL goaltenders were also named inside the Top 3 among North American Goaltenders.
1. Carter George (OS)
3. Ryerson Leenders (MIS)
For a league that has a reputation of being unable to develop goaltenders, this is an impressive feat for the OHL.
George and Leenders have both had phenomenal seasons with their respective clubs, and have turned lackluster defensive cores into strong ones.
All fifteen of these players have also been selected to play in the CHL Top Prospects Game in less than two weeks. This is where we will get to see all of these players compete with and against one another.
