Josh Bloom is heading back to the OHL, and will rejoin the Saginaw Spirit.
Josh Bloom is making a return to the OHL after beginning the season playing in the Vancouver Canucks system. Bloom has spent time in the AHL and the ECHL this season.
Now he will head back to the OHL and rejoin the Saginaw Spirit, not North Bay. Bloom finished playing in the OHL with the North Bay Battalion, but Saginaw has been able to re-acquire his rights and sign him.
Saginaw's trade of Dean Loukus earlier today is justified with this signing. Loukus was taking up an active overage spot on the Spirit's roster, and discarding him made room for Josh Bloom to return.
Bloom now occupies Saginaw's last overage spot, as they add yet another big piece to their roster.
When he played in the OHL, Bloom was one of the best forwards on the penalty kill. He seemed to score short handed goals constantly, and generate chances every time his team was on the kill.
In his last season in the OHL, Bloom had 71 points in 68 games between Saginaw and North Bay.
With his professional development this season, Bloom will come back even better. Saginaw is able to add yet another big piece to their lineup alongside coveted players like Michael Misa, Hunter Haight, Matyas Sapovaliv, Zayne Parekh, Rodwin Dionicio, and Alex Christopoulos.
The Saginaw Spirit know that hosting the Memorial Cup is a privilege in the CHL, and they are making sure they take advantage. Not only are they going for the Memorial Cup, they are also going for the OHL Championship. The acquisition of their former captain may make them the current favourites to win it all.
