Owen Sound Attack captain Colby Barlow is getting his call up to the pros, as the Winnipeg Jets have assigned him to their AHL affiliate in Manitoba.

Winnipeg Jets first round pick Colby Barlow has been assigned to the Manitoba Moose from the OHL. The Jets are giving their prospect his first look at professional hockey, as Barlow will join the Moose.
Barlow is the captain of the Owen Sound Attack, who have just been eliminated from the OHL Playoffs in a four game sweep against Saginaw.
Barlow had his second career 40 goal season in the OHL this year, as he put up 58 points in 50 games after being injured for some time.
If anything will translate to the professional level, it is Barlow's ability to put the puck in the net. He is one of the best goal scorers in the OHL, and specifically it is his one-timer that makes him so lethal. He is able to get the puck off of his stick quicker, and harder than most.
Barlow can score from poor angles, he can score from far out, but he can also get shots up from close.
However, there are some concerns with his skating abilities. He's not super mobile or shifty, and his lack of quickness allows him to lose the pace of play sometimes. This is why it is good that Winnipeg is getting Barlow reps at the professional level as soon as possible.
The sooner that Barlow can adapt to the pace of professional hockey, the sooner he will be scoring goals at the NHL level.
Barlow is a 2005-born winger, and he still has two eligible seasons left in the OHL. Will he play those remaining two seasons? That is up to the development system of the Winnipeg Jets.
