Zayne Parekh has been suspended for two games as a result of actions against Kingston on January 21st, he served the first of two last night.

Draft eligible defenceman Zayne Parekh has been suspended two games after actions post-whistle against Kingston on January 12st, 2024.

Parekh served the first of those two games last night, as Saginaw beat Windsor 5-4 without their number one defenceman.

Parekh had just returned from the CHL Top Prospects Game in Moncton, New Brunswick when this news broke. He will serve his second and final game when Saginaw plays Kitchener on Saturday, January 27th.

Here are the assumed actions that got Parekh suspended:

Ever since Parekh entered the OHL, he has been known to get involved physically and engage with players post-whistle. Players don't seem to like playing against him too much, and he has a way of getting under opponent's skin. Parekh doesn't exactly throw hits to set the tone, but he uses his confident attitude to aggravate opponents.

Parekh has 64 points in 42 games this season, and is projected to be one of the first defencemen taken in the 2024 NHL Draft in June.

His offensive creativity is off-the-charts, and he has the ability to attack with his quickness and high-end vision.

The Spirit certainly miss their number one defenceman, even if it is just for two games. Parekh plays most of the power play, and he even gets some time on the penalty kill. As the number one defenceman, Parekh thrives when the pressure and responsibility is on his shoulders.

Parekh will return back to the lineup in the last game of Saginaw's 3-in-3 when they take on the Windsor Spitfires at home on Sunday, January 28th.
