The London Knights have won the J. Ross Robertson Cup, and now Easton Cowan will head home with two trophies of his own.
Easton Cowan's resume must be ten pages long, as he just keeps adding to his list of accomplishments in hockey.
The London Knights completed the sweep against the Oshawa Generals last night by winning 7-1 and lifting the J. Ross Robertson Cup. This wasn't Cowan's only award of the night, as he was named OHL Playoff MVP with the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award.
Cowan completed his playoff run with London with 34 points in 18 games, as he was dominant in every single game of the postseason. In their series clinching win last night, he put up a goal and three assists to factor on four of London's seven goals.
In the OHL Finals alone, he put up 15 points in four games. It is safe to say that Easton Cowan knows how to play and perform in big-time moments, and he was spectacular when London needed him the most.
The Toronto Maple Leafs prospect has officially concluded his second junior hockey season with the Knights — and it might be his last. With the way that Cowan has dominated the league throughout this entire season, there is a great chance that he will make the Maple Leafs opening night roster next season.
He won the Red Tilson Trophy as the OHL's regular season MVP and he's won the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award for the OHL Playoff MVP — what more does Cowan have to prove at the junior level?
Cowan and the London Knights will now head to Saginaw to partake in the Memorial Cup, joining the Saginaw Spirit (hosts), the Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL), and the Drummondville Voltigeurs (QMJHL).
London, Moose Jaw, and Drummondville all swept their final series — which should make for a highly competitive Memorial Cup tournament. All three of those teams will have sky high confidence heading in, and they will join the hosting Saginaw Spirit.
