The Sudbury Wolves were able to take both games on the road in the first round of the playoffs against the Mississauga Steelheads, and Kocha Delic was able to seal the deal in game two.
In a game with many lead changes, scrums, and penalties, Kocha Delic was able to shine for the Sudbury Wolves offence. Delic put up a hat trick in game two, including scoring the game winner in the extra frame. He was able to put this one to bed just 2:33 into overtime, by finding the bouncing puck in the slot.
In the playoffs, good teams need a different player to step up every night. On Saturday, that player was Kocha Delic. Delic was constantly looking for ways to get the puck to the net in this game, and he was getting it there as quick as possible. He put up a team-leading 10 shots in the game, as he had an extra fire lit under him in this game.
Kocha Delic — the Mississauga, Ontario-native — scored a hat trick on home soil against his hometown team. In game two with the chance to go home with a 2-0 series lead, Delic's performance could not have come at a better time.
Outside of Delic, the entire Wolves offensive core was firing in game two. Sudbury totalled 44 shots in this game, and they seemed to have the puck for a large majority of the game. They had Mississauga's defence scrambling on multiple occasions, and they were forcing turnovers left-and-right.
San Jose Sharks prospect Quentin Musty had his fair share of offensive creation in this game, and there were a few point-blank opportunities that he couldn't capitalize on. His game has come such a long way over the past couple of seasons. Musty continues to move quicker and quicker, and make decisions quicker and quicker each game.
Jakub Vondras struggled in the crease for the Wolves — an area that they have been unsure about all season. He seemed to be fighting and overplaying the puck on simple saves, and there were a few that he would've liked back. There is a chance that Sudbury could go to Marcus Vandenberg in game three, as he could get his first real playoff action.
Sudbury's offence has certainly proven to be a problem for the Mississauga Steelheads, as they continue to search for a solution to stop the bleeding against them.
