Owen Beck after he finds out he made Canada's Final World Junior Roster, after not making it the first time around last year.

Owen Beck after Officially Making Team Canada's Final Roster

Owen Beck is one of five OHLers to make Canada's Final World Junior Roster, and the sole returnee on the entire team.

The Peterborough Petes centreman has made Canada's World Junior roster out of camp, after not making it this time last year. Beck joined Canada mid-tournament last year as a result of an injury that opened up a spot for him.

Beck said it was a "much better" feeling after making the team out of camp. "It's a dream come true to make this team and have a chance to play for us."

This team doesn't seem to have any clear number one superstar, but it is a team with some tremendous depth.

"The bottom-six is going to be as talented as the top-six," says Beck. "Everybody's going to be able to contribute and chip in, and play a role effectively."

Owen Beck was drafted in the second round by the Montreal Canadiens at the 2022 NHL Draft in Montreal.

The two-way centre will play an important bottom-six role for this team. Beck is stellar in the face-off dot, and one of the best in the OHL at winning draws. He will play some important minutes on the penalty kill, and in important defensive situations. He can play with a variety of types of players, but most importantly he can compliment some of Canada's high-skill forwards effectively.

As the sole returnee on this roster, Beck fulfills an important leadership role as well. He has been through this process before, and can provide some valuable experience to the other players on this roster who haven't.

"I know how important every play is, every moment of the game," as Beck only played games in the medal rounds for Canada. "Every little moment really matters here."
