Saginaw's Zayne Parekh has officially been named OHL Defenseman of the Year, also known as the Max Kaminsky Trophy.

Zayne Parekh continues to add to his resume ahead of the NHL Draft, as he has just been awarded the Max Kaminsky Trophy for OHL Defenseman of the Year.
The top 2024 NHL Draft eligible prospect has had a season that is nothing short of outstanding.
He concluded the regular season with 33 goals, 96 points, in just 66 games from Saginaw's blue line. These are numbers that we rarely ever see from an eighteen-year-old, draft eligible defenseman — or from any OHL defenseman at all.
Outside of the numbers, Parekh's creativity is off-the-charts. He creates so much offensively for his team on every shift, and he never attacks the same way twice. From Parekh's skating, to his deceptiveness, to his edgework, to his confidence, he is a player that you can't miss when he is on the ice.
He has the sort of "swagger" in his game every time he is on the ice. He never hesitates, and he is thoroughly confident in every decision he makes on the ice. A turnover or a goal against will never knock his confidence, and he will come out the next shift and make something happen offensively.
When looking at his offensive potential at the professional level, Parekh is among the top. We can compare him to names like Quinn Hughes, Adam Fox, or Roman Josi, but ultimately that is where Parekh's ceiling lies. He has the potential to be that number one, offence-dictating and driving defender on an NHL team.
These are all the factors that combined, made him the best defender in the entire OHL this season.
If there is one thing that is guaranteed, it is that Zayne Parekh won't have to wait long to hear his name called at the 2024 NHL Draft.
