The veteran defender participated in 100 percent of Brampton's goals.

Overage defender Spencer Sova had a huge performance earlier this afternoon which helped Brampton defeat the North Bay Battalion. Sova recorded five assists during the during the 5-4 overtime victory. 

Sova, a former eighth-overall pick in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection, was traded from Erie to Brampton during the summer in exchange for draft picks.

Sova is in the midst of the most productive season in his OHL career. In 13 games, Sova's 16 points places him third in scoring on the team behind Porter Martone and Carson Rehkopf.

He is currently on pace for 21 goals and 62 assists which would more than double his previous season high of 39 points.

Brampton jumped out to an early lead in the game with goals from Jack Van Volsen, Martone and Rehkopf. By the end of the first, they were ahead by a score of 3-1 and Sova had quietly amassed two primary and one secondary assist. 

In the second period, the Battalion scored a pair of goals to tie the game before taking the lead early in the third. Ethan Procyszyn scored a pair of goals in the game increasing his season total to 12.

While North Bay did their best to hold on, Carson Rehkopf tied the game late in the third to force overtime. Just 23 seconds into the overtime frame, Sova's long shot from the point created a huge rebound for Adam Zidlicky who scored the game-winner.

When all was said and done, Sova's five assists were a huge part of Brampton's win. He participated in every goal scored by the Steelheads, showing why he was acquired this summer by Brampton GM James Richmond.
