Toronto Maple Leafs Prospect Easton Cowan Wins Red Tilson Trophy as the OHL's Most Outstanding Player

London Knights forward Easton Cowan has won the Red Tilson Trophy as the OHL's Most Outstanding Player for the 2023-2024 season.

Easton Cowan continues to add to his impressive resume in the last calendar year, as he has just been named the OHL's Most Outstanding Player by being awarded with the Red Tilson Trophy. 

The London Knights forward was playing Junior B with the Komoka Kings just two seasons ago, and now he is a first round NHL Draft pick and the MVP of the OHL. Cowan has quickly progressed as one of the most intriguing prospects in hockey, and the Toronto Maple Leafs may be able to get him into their lineup as soon as next season.

The elements that make Cowan so valuable is his ability to out-work everyone, and his relentless commitment and dedication. He always wears a huge smile on his face, and he is a player that has undying passion for the game. 

On top of that, Cowan has an engine that just won't quit. He's an explosive skater with endless creativity, he never attacks the same way twice. Cowan can make plays, but he can also shoot the puck when he has a lane. In simple terms, there isn't much that he can't do with the puck.

Cowan's also relied on heavily in the defensive end of the ice. He's a huge penalty kill asset and his positioning is superb. He has elite hockey sense in all areas of the ice, and he always seems to be in the right spots.

Cowan began the season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, as he played in several pre-season games for them and went through all of training camp. This resulted in a late start to his OHL season with London, as he only played 54 out of 68 games.

In those 54 games, he had 96 points including a 42 game point-streak that continued into the playoffs.

Not many teams have been able to stop Cowan from getting on the score sheet this season, and this has been no different in the playoffs. Cowan is the unspoken leader of this London Knights group. Even though he doesn't wear the 'C', he fills a hundred different roles for this Knights team. 

Cowan has officially been named the OHL's Most Outstanding Player of the 2023-2024 regular season as an eighteen-year-old, and his career is just getting started.
