The NHL Trade Deadline is Friday at 3:00 p.m. ET. It's also the last day for players to be placed on waivers and have a chance to play out the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
Although the Pittsburgh Penguins have not made any recent waiver claims, they did place several players on waivers, including Matt Nieto, who has reported to the AHL and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Meanwhile, it's been a busy few days for former Penguins players. Here's a look at those who recently skated with the black and gold and their current statuses.
Former fourth overall pick Jesse Puljujarvi is now a member of the Florida Panthers. In early February, the Penguins placed him on waivers, with no takers, to release him from his contract.
On Thursday, Mar. 5, Puljujarvi signed a two-way deal with the Panthers, who placed him on waivers for re-entry purposes. He plays with the Charlotte Checkers with three assists in seven games.
On Thursday, the Toronto Maple Leafs made headlines by placing forward Ryan Reaves on waivers. In 35 games this season, he had two assists and 35 penalty minutes.
In 2017-18, Reaves played with the Penguins for 58 games, scoring four goals and eight points and accumulating 84 penalty minutes.
The 15-year veteran last played against Pittsburgh on Sunday, Mar. 3, skating 9:35. In 912 games, he's collected 137 points and 1,100 penalty minutes.
