

After a slow start to the season, Shawinigan Cataractes forward and 2024 Calgary Flames first rouind pick Matvei Gridin has really picked up steam with 66 points(29+37) over 49 games this season. Four of those arrived in last night's outing against the Saint John Sea Dogs.
Despite the win, the Cataractes have an area that needs to be patched up -- their powerplay. While the team's power play percentage isn't poor, the Sea Dogs were able to exploit Shawinigan despite being shorthanded, picking up two goals while a man down.
Carolina Hurricanes prospect winger Justin Poirier picked up two goals (including his 40th of the season) and an assist in the Drakkar's 6-2 win over the Huskies.
As for the Huskies, an untimely penalty shot lead to their demise as the Drakkar capitalized on the game tying opportunity before running away with the game.
Speaking of 40-goal seasons, Rimouski overage centerman Jonathan Fauchon joined that club last night with two goals in their 4-3 win over Chicoutimi. Also picking up multiple points for the Océanic were Vancouver Canucks prospect defenseman Basile Sansonnens and Anaheim Ducks prospect centerman Alexandre Blais.
As for the Sags, their stars came to play too with multi point nights from 2025 NHL draft eligible left winger Emile Guite (1+1) and centerman Nathan Lecompte (0+2).
The Gatineau Olympiques did something last night that most of the league has been unable to do -- shut-down the Armada. Iain Wintle was the star of the show for the Olympiques, picking up 29 saves on 30 shots, along with three more saves in the shootout.
As for discipline, Armada left winger Olivier Lemieux picked up a game misconduct for a boarding call.
Despite a 48 save performances from overage goaltender Jacob Steinman, the Mooseheads would fall to the No. 1 Moncton Wildcats 3-1. 2025 NHL draft eligible centerman Caleb Desnoyers picked up two assists in the affair.
New Jersey Devils prospect right winger Cam Squires picked up an assist and the game winning goal as he helped the Eagles soar over the Phoenix 5-4.
