When the Sea Dogs acquired centreman Coen Miller from Sherbrooke last season, there was hope that he could break out and become a permanent in their top nine. Coming off of 5 points (2+3) in 18 games, his play would ramp up in Saint John as he notched 20 points (7+13) in his last 31 games. With the departures of Peter Reynolds and Pavel Simek, the Sea Dogs are expected to lean heavier on Miller's scoring touch.

In his first game of the pre-season, he certainly fulfilled that role potting two goals and two assists in a 5-1 trumping of the Charlottetown Islanders.
Acadie-Bathurst's 2024 second round pick Leo Gauthier has to be turning some heads with his monstrous run so far in the QMJHL Pre-Season. The 16-year old right winger scored a hat trick in 5-2 win against the Moncton Wildcats, and is now up to eight points (4+4) in just 3 pre-season games.
If Gauthier is able to carry this momentum deeper into the pre-season, he may very well not only make the Titan's opening night roster, but potentially be a contributing player -- a remarkable accomplishment for a player taken outside of the first round right outside of the draft.
Despite all 18 QMJHL teams playing yesterday, no team were able to register a shutout.
It's very possible that the heavy workload from the back-to-back full schedule game-days may have contributed to the high scoring tallies. Additionally, the team's are starting to cut down their rosters and are introducing more established veterans in the mix, who bring added experience, skill and physical maturity.
That said, it is worth noting that goaltenders Jacob Brochu (Sherbooke), Mathias Hernandez (Chicoutimi), Mathys Lacroix-Goulet (Baie-Comeau), George Foti (Halifax) and Charles Antoine-Girard (Saint John) all didn't let in a single goal when they saw the ice last night, despite either coming in relief or getting swapped to get a look at another goalie.
No surprise as the Player of the Night goes to Sea Dogs' center Coen Miller after a four point performance.
