Plouffe Already Proving To Be A Big Moment Player
Chicoutimi was facing some tough competition in the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, featuring the likes of 50+ goal scorer and Carolina Hurricanes prospect Justin Poirier, the dynamic Boilard brothers (Raoul and Jules) and 2024 Seattle Kraken 3rd rounder Alexis Bernier. Already a formidable opponent in and of itself, the Sags were handicapped with the absences of many of its top players including Maxim Masse, Emile Guite, Alex Huang and Thomas Desruisseaux.
With the help from Jonathan Prud'homme and Nathan Lecompte, who had multi point nights, they were able to take the game to overtime with a score of 4-4.
The game was decided with a goal from none other than Jayden Plouffe -- the Saguenéens 6th overall pick in this year's draft -- after taking a bad call at the beginning of the period.
Even though it is pre-season, scoring an overtime winner is big. What's even bigger is doing so after taking a potentially costly penalty. Biggest? Is doing both while the game is being streamed live for free as a rookie.
Durocher, The Regulator
The game last night between the Gatineau Olympiques and the Val-d'Or Foreurs was a tight affair entering the third with the game tied 2-2.
With just under three minutes in the game, Val-d'Or's Alix Durocher tallies what would become the game winner, preventing the second "free-view" game of the night to go into extra time.
Player of the Night
The Player of the Night goes to Drummondville's Noah Reinhart for a five point performance in Drummondville's 6-5 overtime win over the Cataractes.
Despite being down 3-1 by the five minute mark of the second period, Reinhart made it his entire goal to keep the Volts in the game by scoring the next goal and assisting on every goal afterwards by Drummondville.
