Ahead of this past season, Alex Huang was looking like a potential first round calibre NHL draft prospect. Only marginally im;proving upon his season last year, with 40 points (7+33) over 64 games with the Saguenéems tjos season, the 17-year-old right, smooth skating defenseman is looking like more of a second or third round pick.
Despite this slide in NHL interest, Huang was able to secure NCAA interest this season, finding himself a spot on the Harvard Crimson following the completion of next season according to The Athletic's Scott Wheeler.
According to Wheeler, Harvard was interested in the six-foot blueliner before the fifth overall pick in the 2023 QMJHL draft had signed with Chicoutimi.

Huang was ranked 97th by The Hockey News' Ryan Kennedy on his Top 100 2025 NHL Draft prospects list.
