The Eagles seem prepared to go all-in for a deep playoff run this season.
While 2025-26 was a year sat in the middle, the Cape Breton Eagles have decided they're going to go all-in for a Gilles-Courteau Trophy and a trip to the Memorial Cup in the new season.
The Eagles were a solid team last season, but their biggest move was moving captain Tomas Lavoie to the Chicoutimi Saguenéens during the winter trade window. This year, they'll be focused on adding over the holidays.
They've already got a head start with a number of key additions over the summer. The biggest of moves was a quad of additions from Chicoutimi, with star goaltender Lucas Beckman joining alongside veterans Liam Lefebvre and Alonso Gosselin and import Maxim Schafer.

(Photo: Cape Breton Eagles/QMJHL Photo Archive)Cape Breton has also acquired Cole Chandler and Elias Schneider from Shawinigan as well as a couple of depth pickups in Etienne Dupere from Val-d'Or and Tanner Hayden from Rimouski.
In all, this will be a completely remade team with a ton of top players from across the QMJHL coming together to really become a top contender in what will be a loaded Maritime division next season.
They've amassed a ton of championship-winning experience from the Sags, some strong pieces from elsewhere, and have some good holdovers in the form of Reece Peitzsche, Romain L'Italien, Noah Jettelson and more.
In all, the Eagles will be looking to soar their way to as many wins as possible, and win their first Gilles-Courteau Trophy since the team moved from Granby.
