The Charlottetown Islanders announced on Twitter/X that they have parted ways with defenseman Madden Steen.
Steen, 20, was one of the Islanders big off-season additions signing in Charlottetown after three seasons in the OHL with the Owen Sound, where he amassed 30 points (6+24) over 151 games.
The right shot blueliner had only played six games with the Islanders, scoring a single point (0+1).
This move frees up an overage slot for the team, and it's very possible they could target recently released defenseman Emeric Gaudet, formerly of the Gatineau Olympiques.
Gaudet, 20, is a veteran of 209 QMJHL games and had amassed seven points (3+4) over 12 games before getting cut surprisingly from the team as the Olympiques have struggled to start the season.
