Former QMJHL goaltender Creed Jones has passed away at the young age of 24 after a motorcycle accident last Friday night.

The Ottawa Citizen reported that the collision, which was between two motorcyclists, occurred just after midnight in Ottawa.

Jones played in 93 games over four seasons in the QMJHL split between the Gatineau Olympiques, the Rimouski Océanic (twice) and the Saint John Sea Dogs.

The QMJHL and his former teams have all taken to social media to show support to his family and to remember who Creed Jones was.

On the ice, he was described as a "calm and composed netminder" according to NeutralZone scouts, but off the ice he was described as boasting a unique and colourful personality.

That personality would shine through in his equipment, wearing a signature mask sporting the Marvel anti-hero character Venom who, much like Jones, was known for his sarcasm and sharp humour.

After a short stint with the University of Ottawa, Jones would retire from hockey to focus on coaching. He founded two goalie coaching programs, the 33 Group and Genesis, and also worked with the East Ottawa Stars.

Alongside coaching, Jones had also rejoined the Rimouski Océanic as a scout.

According to the Ottawa Citizen, a memorial is planned in his hometown of Peterborough.
