It's hard to say that anyone left it all out on the ice more than Moncton Wildcats goaltender Rudy Guimond.
Moving over from the USHL's Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, the Detroit Red Wings 2023 sixth rounder made an immediate impact, posting a .940 save percentage through 16 games and going undefeated. It took until the playoffs to capitulate his first loss in the finals, but still maintaining an 8-1 record and .916 save percentage.
It looked as though, his time in the QMJHL was going to be short but sweet, given his outstanding commitment to Yale in 2025/26, however plans changed as the Wildcats announced his return for his overage season.
Red Wings Prospect Delays NCAA Debut, To Return To Moncton For 2025-26
Thanks to the mid-season <a href="https://thehockeynews.com/ncaa">NCAA</a> ruling which allowed American prospects to come over to the CHL, over 100 Jr. A and <a href="https://thehockeynews.com/ushl/players">USHL</a> players had made their way to the CHL. While many of these players lacked NHL affiliation, one of the very few that made their way to major junior was <a href="https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/detroit-red-wings">Detroit Red Wings</a> prospect goaltender Rudy Guimond.
Well, it turns out, Guimond left it all out off the ice as well as he swapped commitments from Yale to Harvard for 2026-27.

Guimond isn't the only Wildcat netminder to commit to Harvard as he joins 17-year-old goaltender and 2026 NHL draft prospect Jacoby Weiner.
Islanders Sign Pittsburgh Penguins Prospect Peddle
Described as throwing "crushing open-ice hits, net-front maulings, overpowering crunches" by <a href="https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/803899/brady-peddle">EliteProspects in their 2025 NHL draft guide</a>, Brady Peddle has built up a reputation as one of the <a href="https://thehockeynews.com/ushl">USHL</a>'s toughest customers--one that earned him a third round selection in the draft by the <a href="https://thn.com/pittsburgh">Pittsburgh Penguins</a>.
