Team Canada has announced its two rosters for the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in Sarnia this November.

Team Red

Heading Team Red is the QMJHL's and the Remparts' first overall pick in the 2024 draft Maddox Dagenais. The 6-foot-2 centerman has already lit the league ablaze with 11 points (6+5) over 9 games for third on his team in points. Last season, he played in Ontario's U-16 league with the Quinte Red Devils where he tallied 81 points (42+39) over 35 games.

Joining him are fellow top draft picks, Shawinigan centerman Chad Lygitsakos (#3, 2024) and Cape Breton centerman Romain L'Italien (#4, 2024). Lygitsakos has tallied a sole goal over eight games this season with the Cataractes and L'Italien has amassed three points across nine games with the Eagles.

While not actively in the QMJHL, the team also features Saint John Sea Dogs first round pick, defenseman Cameron Chartrand. The Boston College commit has played in 16 games in the Under-16 AAA program at Bishop Kearney Selects in the United States tallying 14 points (1+13) over them.

Team White

Meanwhile, Team White features three QMJHL representatives.

Bathurst goaltending prospect Antoine Proulx will likely start for the team. Standing at just 5-foot-10, the former second round pick has a .942 save percentage over six games at the U18 AAA level in Quebec, after posting a .935 last season through 18 games.

The blueline will feature QMJHL second overall pick Benjamin Cosette-Ayotte of the Val-d'Or Foreurs. The 6-foot-2 right shot defender has two points (1+1) through six games this season thus far after tallying 31 points (1+30) over 35 games at the Under-18 AAA level last year.

Up front, the team also welcomes Chicoutimi Saguenéens left winger Jayden Plouffe. He's had three points (1+2) over eight games to start his rookie campaign.

The roster also features centerman Tynan Lawrence, who was also drafted by the Saguenéens. The Boston University commit has five points (3+2) over his first seven USHL games this season.
