The Gatineau Olympiques have announced that they have acquired forward Julien Paille from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in exchange for a 2025 4th and 6th round pick.
Paille, 20, has four points (3+1) over six games to start his overage season.
Originally a ninth round selection by Gatineau, he returns to the team where he started his major junior career.
He played in 15 games with the Olympiques during the 2021-22 season before getting dealt to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and the Chicoutimi Saguenéens -- failing to get into any QMJHL action with either team.
After a season without gracing QMJHL ice, he was invited to Baie-Comeau's camp in 2023, making the team and setting the league ablaze with a 53 point sophomore season last year.
In his three seasons, he's been able to amass 60 points (31+29) over 84 games between the two teams.
This move puts the Olympiques above the limit for 2004-born players, and as a result they have let go of overager Emeric Gaudet.
The 6-foot-5 defenseman had seven points (2+5) over 12 games to start the year, and is a veteran of 209 QMJHL games between the Olympiques and the Huskies.
