After three seasons with the team, the Huskies have dropped goaltender Kyle Hagen.

Hagen, 19, has played four games this season with the Huskies, posting an .867 save percentage in the process.

The Canadian and German dual-national was a former 15th overall pick in the 2021 QMJHL Draft by the Rimouski Océanic. There he played in one game before getting dealt to the Huskies for a 2023 first round pick.

This is the second time the Huskies have dropped Hagen, as last season he was dropped after accumulating an .842 save percentage over 11 games, before going on to play in the AJHL with the Bonnyville Pontiacs.

In Bonnyvile, the Kirkland-born goaltender had a resurgence as he tallied an impressive .915 save percentage over eight games.

With starter William Rousseau departing for pro hockey and goaltender Philippe Bourdages not getting brought back as one of the team's three overagers -- the opportunity to return to the Huskies presented itself.

However, Hagen hasn't found much of an opportunity to play in Rouyn-Noranda with the emergence of 2025 NHL Draft eligible goaltender Samuel Meloche, who has a .905 save percentage across 17 games in his rookie QMJHL campaign.

It is unclear where he'll continue his career, but if this is the end for Hagen's time in the QMJHL, he'll have finished it with a career .876 save percentage across 37 games in the league.

With the move, the team will likely continue to roll with Meloche, with Samuel Carreiras likely taking up the backup role in the meantime.

Carreiras, 18, has been playing with the Saint-Laurent Patriotes where he's been a steady presence with a .908 save percentage over eight games. He's also already gotten into a game with the Huskies in relief this September, where he stopped eight of nine shots for an .889 save percentage.
