The Charlottetown Islanders have announced today that they have signed left winger Lane Sim.
Sim, 17, had just one point (0+1) with the Sarnia Sting of the OHL, who had drafted him in the third round in 2023.
In the Sting's press release about his departure, general manager Dylan Seca mentioned that it was a difficult move for the organization, but one that the team respected to ensure that they were doing right by the player.
"Lane was a great teammate and dedicated member of our program but ultimately he wanted the opportunity to play more and this move facilitates that request," Seca said. "We wish Lane all the best."
Sim played two seasons with the team, scoring six points (0+6) across 52 games in the OHL -- all with the Sting.
This isn't the first time he's been in the Maritimes, as he's actually from Nova Scotia.
Sim will join the team officially this weekend.
