The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League will be represented by seven players at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

A converted touchdown. That’s how many Quebec Major Junior Hockey League players will represent Team Canada at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The Red and White are led by Halifax Mooseheads teammates Jordan Dumais, Jake Furlong and Mathis Rousseau. Joining the threesome from The Herd will be defenseman Tristan Luneau of the Anaheim Ducks, goaltender Samuel St-Hilaire of the Sherbrooke Phoenix, Drummondville’s Maveric Lamoureux and Noah Warren of the Victoriaville Tigres. Luneau has been loaned to Team Canada by the Anaheim Ducks. He is expected to be returned to the Gatineau Olympiques following the completion of the tournament.

Three Mooseheads ties the record for most QMJHL teammates to represent Canada at the World Juniors. A trio of Victoriaville Tigres dawned the maple leaf at the 1989 tournament while the same number of Val d’Or Foreurs participated in the 1998 holiday tradition.

Of the 22 players comprising Team Canada, seven are from the QMJHL, eight are from the WHL, five are from the OHL and two players are from the NCAA.

Around the Q, Team Latvia is expected to have five QMJHL players on their roster. Goaltender Aksels Ozols of the Charlottetown Islanders, along with defensemen Peteris Bulans of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens and Niks Fenenko of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar will join forwards Kristers Ansons of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and Eriks Mateiko of the Saint John Sea Dogs.

Team Czechia will have three attending their pre-tournament camp. Foreurs’ defenseman Tomas Cibulka along with Jakub Hujer of the Rimouski Océanic and Matyas Melovsky of Baie-Comeau join the Czechs. Frantisek Dej of the Sherbrooke Phoenix and Drummondville’s Peter Repcik will attempt to crack the Slovakian roster.

Moncton Wildcats teammates Julius Sumpf and Miles Müller will represent Germany and Switzerland respectively.
