The CHL has announced that the Rimouski, Quebec will host the Memorial Cup in 2025.

The decision is in. For the second time in franchise history, the Rimouski Oceanic will host the prestigious Memorial Cup. The 105th edition will take place in the Spring of 2025. The Canadian Hockey League revealed the news in a press release Monday morning.
“We are very excited to be coming back to Quebec, in the city of Rimouski,” said Dan MacKenzie, President of the CHL. “I want to express my gratitude for the work and time dedicated by our selection committee, who were presented two very strong bids. I’d like to thank the Shawinigan Cataractes for putting forward an outstanding bid and making the decision by the committee extremely difficult.”
The City of Rimouski has committed 4.6 million dollars to renovate le Colisée Financière Sun Life in 2024. The upgrades include a new scoreboard along with adding twelve corporate boxes. The players’ benches for both teams will be rearranged on the same side of the arena.
The Oceanic hosted the 2009 Memorial Cup won by the Ontario Hockey League’s Windsor Spitfires. After losing their first two games, the Spitfires went on to win the next four games, including a tiebreaker against the hosts, to capture the cup.
Off the ice, this year’s Oceanic are led by Head Coach Joël Perrault and General Manager Danny Dumont. With 42 points in 31 games, Alexandre Blais leads Rimouski on the ice. He is joined by Spencer Gill, Quinn Kennedy and Dominic Pilote who were all named to the National Hockey League Central Scouting’s Preliminary Players List for the 2024 NHL Draft.
