This move fills Sherbrooke's final overage spot, while opening one up for Gatineau.
As the opening weekend of the 2026-27 QMJHL season has come to a close, there's been an overager trade between a pair of Western conference foes.
The Gatineau Olympiques have moved blueliner Alexandre Carbonneau to the Sherbrooke Phoenix in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2027 QMJHL draft, the teams announced Monday.
Carbonneau, 20, did not feature for Gatineau this weekend. Last season, he had 15 (6+9) points in 60 combined games between the Olympiques and Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, who traded him prior to the deadline.

He played parts of three seasons in Blainville, before being deemed excess parts last season as the team loaded up for a big playoff run. Carbonneau served as a strong and physical defender for the Olympiques, and will now look to fill a similar role in Sherbrooke.
The 6-foot-4 rearguard will fill the final import spot for the Phoenix, joining Chad Bellemare and Sydney Gagnon. With how young the Sherbrooke blueline is this year, they likely were searching for some veteran experience, and found it in Carbonneau.
